Connie Liakos, MS, RDN
Connie is a retired registered dietitian nutritionist who worked in children’s health and nutrition education for her entire career. She is the author of How to Teach Nutrition to Kids, 4th ed., a book which has been used in thousands of schools throughout the world as a framework for nutrition education. She also wrote the activity book Nutrition Fun with Brocc & Roll and the Disney children’s book, Good for You! Nutrition Book and Games. Connie has worked as a nutrition consultant to schools and child nutrition programs throughout the nation, developing programs, writing materials and providing hands-on training to educators, health care professionals and parents. Her career included speaking to local and national audiences as well as hundreds of media appearances.
Connie graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska and completed her dietetic internship and Master of Science degree in nutrition (emphasizing sports nutrition) from the University of Iowa. In 2013, she was recognized as the outstanding dietitian of the year from the Oregon Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Background
Connie grew up in rural Western Nebraska on a farm and has lived in the beautiful state of Oregon for 39 years. She has three adult children and two grandsons. Connie lives a healthy lifestyle with a large garden, great home-cooked food and nearly daily exercise. Connie has climbed Mt. Hood, run a marathon, run 6 Hood-to-Coast relays, completed hundreds of 5k and 10k races and hikes and cycles on a regular basis. In June of 2019, Connie went on a 6-day trek through the Highlands of Iceland.
