A Look at Applegate Well Carved™ Organic Blended Meatballs

One thing I enjoy as a registered dietitian nutritionist is keeping up with food trends and tasting new and innovative products.  While I often receive samples of new food products, not all are tasty and to be honest, some are really not that healthy. As a dietitian who works with both families and athletic consumers, I’m always on the lookout for foods that have a great nutritional profile, are quick and easy to prepare and appeal to a wide range of palates. That’s why I’m excited to share with you a product line that delivers on taste, convenience and good health— Applegate Well Carved™Organic Blended Meatballs.

Applegate is already known for its natural and organic meat products that are from animals that Applegate humanely raised without antibiotics and added hormones. However, its Well Carved line pairs Applegate humanely raised meat with organic vegetables, legumes, and grains to create blended products that will satisfy those who love the taste and texture of meat but like me, are also mindful of their meat intake.

I recently tried the Asian Style and Mediterranean Style meatballs and found them to be moist and delicious (I hate dry meatballs!).  The products are also versatile, a snap to prepare, planet friendly and nutrient dense.  I really enjoyed pairing the Mediterranean style meatballs with whole wheat couscous along with my garden tomatoes, parsley and salad greens.

Most Americans, including most of my clients, do not eat the recommended number of daily vegetable servings of 2-3 cups daily. Blended meat and veggie products are a step in the right direction to help Americans hit that goal. Applegate was able to find the ideal blend of meat to veggies, legumes, and grains to create two flavor-filled meatballs that deliver a ¼ cup of vegetables per serving.

Another nutritional benefit to Well Carved™ products, is that they have fewer calories, total fat, and saturated fat compared to their conventional counterparts. The products are USDA Organic and gluten-free. There’s nothing artificial and all the ingredients used could be found in your kitchen. You could make these in your own kitchen… Applegate is just giving you the option of convenience and reduced prep time.
